BRAND AMBASSADORS; Part-time

We're looking for brand ambassadors with Friday availability. (9-5ers need not apply, tastings usually require a 3pm departure time.)

You obviously already love craft beer. Want to work in the industry? Specifically, want to attend beer festivals and tastings to serve up delicious Dock Street beer with a side of history and brewing knowledge to other beer enthusiasts - and occasionally, people who don't yet know that they are beer enthusiasts. 

We here at Dock Street, Philly's First Craft Brewery, are looking for people like you.  We’re looking for qualified Street Ambassadors to represent us in Central and North New Jersey.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
- Attending beer samplings and occasional beer festivals on behalf of Dock Street; setting up displays including banners and swag; tapping kegs or setting up cases/bottles for pouring; serving beer;
- Organizing temporary and permanent displays at off-premise accounts. Speaking with beer enthusiasts, fans of our brand, and potential future customers about Dock Street's history, beer availability, etc.;
- Working with our NJ wholesaler to set up and organize tastings.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
- A valid drivers licence;
- A car or regular access to one for travel to promotional events, tastings/samplings, beer fests, etc.;
- The ability to lift and/or move and maneuver cases of beer and occasionally kegs.

EXPERIENCE:
A genuine passion for craft beer.
Food and beverage service experience preferred, not required.
Sales experience preferred but not required.
Experience talking about beer and a knowledge of beer, the brewing process, different styles, etc. Some training will be provided.

YOU MUST:
Be 21+ years of age
Be available to work on evenings and weekends

MANAGER

Dock Street Brewing Co is a leading pioneer in the American Microbrewery Revolution. Founded in 1985, Dock Street was the first craft beer in Philadelphia and PA. Dock Street maintains an upscale image and a high consumer and industry wide recognition, along with a reputation for exceptional quality and innovation The company is growing and we are seeking a Head Manager for our Dock Street Brewery & Cannery location in West Philadelphia.

This role will be expected to command the performance of the restaurant, cannery and brewery in line with Dock Street’s plans and objectives, including financial performance, operations, guest satisfaction, event coordination, health code compliance and staff development. Organization, problem solving, leadership and follow through are a must.

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

Oversee Brewpub/ Cannery Work with Brewery, Upper Management and Head Chef to oversee operations in accordance with company standards

Keep an eye on and prevent loss and theft from company. Responsible for collection of all guest sales transactions. Refer to Profit and Loss reviews

Hire, train and schedule FOH staff

Work with Head Chef to hire and develop kitchen staff

Maintain employee write-ups, discretions, exit paperwork and general info for employee files

Schedule and facilitate SafeServ and RAMP certifications when needed

Execution of cleaning and maintenance schedules

Equipment, Pest and POS Maintenance

Work with brewery and management on special events and execution, with an eye on probability and efficiency. Help/suggest develop and naming beers

Communication with FOH about specials, private parties, events, etc and delegate responsibility when possible

Ensure that all food maintains the highest level quality and consistency (plate sizing)

Oversee other closing managers and be the communicator between them and upper management

Ensure all employees live up to company standards of high quality, friendly service, respect, cleanliness and honesty

Overall cleanliness, sanitation and safe working environment of the premises

Communicate restaurant situations to upper management

Review payroll hours before submitting to bookkeeper to correct missed clock outs, clock-in/clock-out errors and keep an eye on labor costs

Salary and compensation package based on discussion and management experience


HOST/HOSTESS

Previous experience and, needless to say, friendly, positive and welcoming attitude is a must.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

- Greet and seat guests;

- Make/manage a waitlist on busy nights;

- Distribute parties evenly throughout the dining room and among servers;

- On some occasions, you'll optimize both of our spaces by directing spillover guests to Dock Street Cannery + Tasting Lounge to wait if it gets packed in the main brewpub and communicate with them to return to main Dock Street Brewpub when their table is ready.

This position is part-time; 1 - 3 afternoon/evening shifts a week. Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings now, plus more in the Spring/Summer when outdoor seating is back.

BREWERY BARTENDER, Dock Street BREWPUB

CANNERY BARTENDER, Dock Street BREWPUB

We are looking for a Bartender for Dock Street Cannery + Tasting Lounge with weekend availability. To be considered, you must have prior bartending experience.

Knowledge of craft beer, cocktails and passion for all of the above is a must!

Experience creating a menu and designing recipes including house-made ingredients is a soft requirement and a strong plus.

You must be a people person. Be friendly, engaging and talkative - the Cannery is an intimate, really special garage bar, and there is no space for bad attitudes or bad service.

This position is part-time; Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, plus special events + private parties.

SERVER

Previous experience and, needless to say, friendly, positive and "yes" (as opposed to, well, "no") attitude is a must.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

- Serving food and beverages to guests in your section;

- Setting up OR breaking down, depending on your shift;

- Light sidework including rolling silverware, checking condiments, etc., wiping tables at the end of the night.

Ideally, you should have some experience or knowledge in beer and brewing; prior work in a brewpub is great!

Social Media Intern

Dock Street is currently seeking a Social Media Intern, to start immediately.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

Creating content (photos, blog posts, tweets, web and marketing copy);
Creating and maintaining a weekly social media schedule (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat);
Taking photos and videos according to the schedule and posting on social media
Posting events and business information to various external online calendars, databases and business directories.
You'll be working alongside the Marketing and Events Manager, and will not be solely responsible for the above, but ideally will take charge of most social media content, as well as chipping in on the blog and miscellaneous copy.

WHEN:

One to two days a week, beginning ASAP. (8 to 12 hours a week total.)

WHERE:

On-site at Dock Street. You may be asked to work in the field, at events, or remotely from time to time instead or in addition to your on-site shift. 

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

Please have a laptop that you can bring to work. Camera and basic photography skills are a plus, but not necessary.

REQUIREMENTS:

Solid knowledge of social media.
Strong writing skills and the ability to pick up on and represent our brand identity and voice.
A sense of humor! (Goes without saying, based on the above 👆)
Photoshop skills are a plus.
Prior experience in marketing or previous similar internships are a plus. 
Knowledge of craft beer a plus.

This is an unpaid internship, but you will receive a meal while you are on-site working and occasional liquid libations to take home, if you're above 21 years old.
