To those that have supported Dock Street Brewing Company in the past 35 years as a business and during our 13 years here in West Philly, we want to offer our gratitude and appreciation. Your calls and emails with words of encouragement, as well as your support as you continue to come by for pizza and beer mean the world to us. We want to take this opportunity to share with you our core beliefs, who we are as a business and as individuals, and what our plans are for moving forward.
Dock Street Brewery is family-owned, immigrant-owned, and women-owned and operated. It is also a small business, facing the same challenges that every small business in America has faced during the COVID-19 pandemic. Dock Street never envisioned a survival scenario in which it would have to lay off many dedicated and hardworking staff members, but that is what has transpired these past few months. The world changed without warning, shining a light on many systems in need of reform, and the bar and restaurant industry is one of them.
Can you believe it’s been 3 months since Dock Street has been able to welcome you all here to eat and drink? (Real talk, it feels like 3 years…)
While the global pandemic is most certainly not over yet, things are easing up a little and we have received some Yellow Phase guidelines about how to safely start to reopen.
Beginning June 12, 2020, Dock Street West + Dock Street South will be open for outdoor dining (with limited seating), plus we’re continuing takeout via online ordering.
Donations will go to 3 Philly-based organizations that uplift and assist Black Philadelphians
JUNE 5, 2020
Our amazing team members at both Dock Street locations, Hannah and Matt, have volunteered to donate their tips Friday, June 5, to three organizations benefiting Black Philadelphians.
Dock Street will match 100% of tips.
Dock Street Brewing Co. stands with our black neighbors and community. You are loved. You are seen. You are deeply cared about. You are our priority.
There is so much work to be done to change the systemic problems that we recognize we as a business and as individuals are a part of and benefit from daily, and that task isn’t one that we can post about today, work on this week, and then forget about. This will be a daily, hourly work in progress that we will be committed to until equality, respect, compassion and kindness are the baseline, not the exception.
Here is some of what Dock Street Brewing Company is going to do and continue to do, effective immediately
