DOWN THE STREET
A collaboration between Dock Street Brewery + Down the Road Beer Co.
Down the Street is, in our opinion, a great example (yes, we are a bit biased) of two breweries helping each other out and partnering up in a really fun, no-fuss way.
In the spirit of Brotherly Love and a healthy dose of rivalry (given that our cities are acute sports rivals these past few years), Dock Street Brewery of Philadelphia, PA and Down the Road Beer Co. of Boston, MA are collaborating on Down the Street, a pair of tea- and honey-infused Golden Pale Ales, to be released in 16oz cans in each city this September. Last month, Dock Street hosted the Down the Road brewery crew for drinks, brunch, sightseeing, a visit to Eastern State Penitentiary, eating and more eating, followed by a brew day on Monday morning. Later in August, we trekked up to Boston for a game at Fenway, lots more eating and drinking, and a day of brewing. (Scroll down for some pics from both trips.)
Besides sports, what really makes this particular collaboration special is the fact that neither brewery is available yet in the other's states, although we are both keen to enter the other's market. It represents the nature of the brewing industry - we're both opening our homes -literally, our breweries - to each other and helping each other reach a new market, and that is so unique to the craft beer biz. I can't imagine very many other industries where that would be a thing.
