STREET HISTORY
The Dock Street Brewing Company is
one of the great success stories of the American
Craft-Brewing Renaissance. It is guided by the owner's
passion for the brewing industry.
The name Dock Street itself
embodies the American Mystique and serves the
independent thinking consumer. As a leading pioneer of
the American Microbrewery revolution it has earned a
well deserved reputation for quality, innovation and
helped set the standards for American high quality
beers. Dock Street's image redefined the public's
perception of beer. The Dock Street brewing Co. is the
consummate American microbrewery.
Founded in 1985 by Rosemarie Certo
and Jeffrey Ware, this Philadelphia-based beer company
grew from a simple concept to become a nationally
renowned business. At the height of its success the
company generated annual sales in excess of $7 million
from its bottled beer division and the Philadelphia Dock
Street Brewery & Restaurant. Bottled beers were sold
in 23 states in the U.S. with California and
Pennsylvania holding the largest markets.
In 1998 Dock Street Brewing Co.
was sold. It was reacquired in 2001 by one of the
original owners, Rosemarie Certo. In 2004 she began the
process of restoring Dock Street as the number one
specialty beer producer in the region. Dock Street's
greatest assets are almost 20 years American Beer
History, an upscale Image a reputation
for Quality and industry wide recognition.
It has received notable product
placements in the feature films "Philadelphia" and "Leaving Las Vegas", the
syndicated television series "ThirtySomething" and numerous local films.
Dock Street supports original
music, the arts and is a proud sponsor of The
Philadelphia Film Festival and the Gay and Lesbian Film
